Colorado Governor Under Scrutiny for Neglecting Gang Takeover Concerns
In a startling turn of events, Colorado Governor Jared Polis has drawn the ire of Aurora residents for seemingly downplaying their grave concerns about local apartment complexes being seized by the notorious Venezuelan gang, Tren de Aragua. Despite a wealth of compelling evidence, including video clips, police reports, and corroborations from the city’s mayor, Polis has dismissed these anxieties as mere figments of “imagination”.
The Gateway Pundit had earlier reported that Fitzsimon’s apartment complex in Aurora, Colorado was forced to close its doors, leaving hundreds of families without a home. This unfortunate event is widely seen as a direct consequence of the Biden-Harris administration’s lax border policies, which critics argue have paved the way for criminals to enter the country with little to no restraint. While city officials initially attributed the closure to code violations, residents and local leaders harbor doubts.
Aurora City Councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky has not shied away from voicing her concerns on this matter, attributing the closure to rampant gang activities. “We are not buying this,” Jurinsky affirmed. “Yes, there are code violations, but this started because of a gang takeover. That’s what we believe.”
A recently released video by Fox 31 Denver reporter Vicente Arenas presents alarming footage of an armed group at another Aurora apartment complex. Councilmember Jurinsky has been equally vocal about this situation, announcing on Twitter/X that gangs have overrun several complexes in Aurora.

In response to Councilwoman Jurinsky’s concerns, Governor Polis’s press office issued a dismissive statement. Shelby Wieman, a spokesperson for the Democratic governor, suggested that the alleged invasion is merely a product of Jurinsky’s imagination, as reported by the New York Post. Wieman added that while it’s illegal to seize buildings in Colorado, if Jurinsky has any “knowledge” of such activities, the governor’s office stands “ready to assist” law enforcement.
Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman too has been vocal about the ongoing crisis. He confirmed that several buildings have fallen into the hands of these Venezuelan gangs, which he suspects are tied to taxpayer-funded migrant housing. Coffman pointed out a disturbing pattern where these gangs have employed intimidation tactics to oust property management and collect rents.
“So there are several buildings actually under the same ownership, out-of-state ownership, that have fallen to these Venezuelan gangs. I’m trying to walk it back and do the investigation as to how there’s a concentration of Venezuelans in these three buildings,” Coffman revealed.
“Somebody put them there and somebody funded it. Whether it’s federal government or not, we’re trying to find out who these gangs are attracted to where there’s a concentration of Venezuelan migrants.”
He further elaborated on how these gangs have ousted property management through intimidation and collected rents. Current operations involving local law enforcement, state partners, and federal agencies aim to eradicate this criminal activity.
“This is an organized criminal effort I’ve heard; whether it’s Tren de Aragua remains to be seen. But it really doesn’t matter. If they’re Venezuelan migrants conducting crime in an organized manner, they’re a problem,” Coffman added.
