Confrontation at Press Conference: Illinois Governor Pritzker Under Fire

In a heated exchange during a recent press conference, Real America’s Voice correspondent Ben Bergquam confronted Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson. The event, held at a West Side lighting manufacturing plant, was intended to focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. However, it quickly turned into a platform for questioning the Governor’s stance against President Trump’s initiatives targeting sanctuary cities and illegal immigration.

The backdrop of this confrontation is significant. President Trump’s recent policies aim to address the challenges posed by illegal immigration, including mass deportations and the dismantling of federal DEI programs through a newly signed Memorandum. These measures have reportedly led to the apprehension of over 300 violent offenders, including serious criminals like murderers and child rapists—an indication of Trump’s commitment to restoring law and order in America.

Bergquam, known for his tenacious reporting style and dedication to uncovering the truth about illegal immigration, put Pritzker on the spot by asking about taxpayer expenditures related to supporting illegal immigrants in Chicago. He referenced an email from Mayor Johnson that hinted at further financial allocations for immigrant protection, raising concerns about neglecting American citizens in vulnerable communities on Chicago’s West and South Sides.

“Governor, real quick, the amount of money that you’ve spent on harboring illegals over the last four years and protecting them now, and after Mayor Johnson’s email that just went out yesterday, saying they’re going to spend more money on protecting illegals at the expense of the American citizens, in particular, the west side and the south side; we’ve got representatives here. I’ve got Bob Israel here. Why not invest that money there?”

Bergquam pressed further by questioning Pritzker’s willingness to comply with federal law under Trump’s directives: “Are you prepared to be arrested if you don’t follow President Trump’s orders?” In response, Pritzker dismissed these inquiries with a laugh, offering little substance in his reply.

“We follow the law in the state of Illinois. I’m very concerned that Donald Trump and the federal government is not going to be following the law. Indeed, they have proposed getting rid of birthright citizenship for many families.”

The tension escalated as Terry Newsome from Behind Enemy Lines podcast probed deeper into potential collaborations with ICE regarding criminal organizations like Tren De Aragua and issues surrounding Venezuelan migrants. Despite mounting pressure from reporters seeking answers, both Pritzker and Johnson opted to cut the conference short rather than engage further.

Bergquam continued his pursuit of accountability by demanding transparency regarding allegations of cartel funding but was met with evasive responses from Pritzker.
