CNN data analyst Harry Enten is sounding the alarm for Vice President Kamala Harris, suggesting that despite her slight lead in some national polls, she is in a precarious position in crucial swing states. Her numbers might not be sufficient to secure victory due to the Electoral College system. If Harris manages to win the popular vote but loses the election, we could once again witness the left’s intense outrage against the Electoral College, reminiscent of 2016.
FOX News reports: CNN data reporter Harry Enten expressed concerns about Kamala Harris’ current poll standings in key battleground states, indicating she is in a “danger zone” regarding her chances of winning the electoral college. “So let’s take a look at the average margin nationally. Harris is ahead in the average poll by 2.5 points. But look in those seven key battleground states—Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin—Harris is only ahead by 0.3 points,” Enten told CNN’s John Berman. “So the bottom line is, in those seven key battleground states, it’s a significantly tighter race than it is nationally.”
Most national polls show Harris leading former President Trump. However, Enten noted that while Harris currently has about a 70% chance of winning the popular vote, her chances of winning the electoral college are only around 50%. This scenario could lead to another split like in 2016 and 2000, where one candidate wins the popular vote but loses the Electoral College.
