An Unforgivable Prioritization: Protecting Criminal Aliens Over American Citizens?

By an Angry Republican

In a stunning display of misplaced priorities, Democrat officials in Providence, Rhode Island, are more concerned about how a violent MS-13 gang member and fentanyl

was arrested than the fact that a dangerous criminal is off the streets. ICE’s apprehension of this illegal immigrant should be celebrated—yet local leaders, including Mayor Brett Smiley, are scrambling to investigate whether police dared to assist federal immigration enforcement.

The arrest, which would be considered a win for public safety in any rational jurisdiction, has instead triggered panic among Providence’s Democrat leadership. Smiley called the incident “complex” and insisted that the city’s police department must reassure residents they “will not cooperate or serve as immigration agents.” Apparently, in the eyes of progressive politicians, removing a violent drug trafficker from the community is a bad thing—unless, of course, it’s done without any coordination with ICE, the agency tasked with enforcing immigration laws.

Even more outrageous, a Rhode Island Democrat lawmaker went full hyperbole, comparing ICE to the Gestapo—a disgusting and historically illiterate smear against officers who risk their lives to combat drug cartels and transnational gangs. This kind of rhetoric isn’t just irresponsible; it’s dangerous. While Democrats clutch their pearls over police cooperation, they ignore the real victims: American citizens terrorized by MS-13 and those dying from fentanyl flooding across the open border.

Mayor Smiley’s Weak Defense:

“Preliminarily, we believe that policy was followed… Providence police acted in accordance with our existing policy.”

“It certainly was jarring video that I saw.”

What’s truly jarring is that a mayor is more disturbed by law enforcement doing its job than by an MS-13 member peddling deadly drugs in his city.

The message from Democrats is clear: Protecting criminal illegal aliens is more important than protecting American citizens. While they fret over sanctuary city policies, communities suffer from gang violence and overdoses. This isn’t just incompetence—it’s ideological fanaticism at the expense of public safety.

It’s high time we stop apologizing for enforcing our nation’s laws. As an Angry Republican, I stand for truth, sanity, and the unyielding protection of American interests. While the left’s narrative continues to twist facts and prevent the removal of dangerous criminals, we know that strong, decisive action by federal authorities is exactly what our country needs. Let’s not allow political correctness to endanger our streets and destroy our communities. Share this message, and let’s reclaim common sense in law enforcement.
