How badly does law enforcement have to perform when their work is lagging behind journalists, who are often criticized for censorship and propaganda? Recently, the FBI was not the first on the scene at the home of a suspect involved in a troubling incident. In fact, reporters arrived and began reporting live from the driver’s home before federal agents did. This raises serious questions about how effectively our law enforcement agencies are operating.
As of yesterday, journalists were already cleared to conduct a live walk-through of the driver’s residence, showcasing bomb-making tools and other concerning details found inside. They got there long before federal authorities swooped in to take control of the situation. “By mid-afternoon, the feds swooped in — kicking The Post and other journalists out of the area and cordoning it off,” reported NYPost. This scenario highlights a significant delay in federal response times, which is alarming given the nature of their work.
While officials like Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas emphasize that these attacks are being carried out by Americans rather than illegal immigrants, it’s crucial to recognize that illegal immigration plays a role in this failure. Law enforcement agencies are stretched thin as they deal with rising gang violence linked directly to an open border policy. Additionally, they must track down foreign nationals who may have been allowed into the country only to later be discovered on terror watch lists.
Furthermore, Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray seem more focused on labeling disgruntled white men as threats rather than addressing jihadists or potential terrorists. They are allocating record resources toward investigating events from years ago instead of monitoring real-time threats that could emerge today. Resources spent chasing down peaceful protesters at the Capitol mean fewer resources available for watching for signs of ISIS sympathizers or other genuine threats.
This issue boils down to leadership failures within these agencies. The sooner we see new appointments under former President Trump’s administration taking charge and setting new priorities, the better off we will be in terms of national security.
