While some may have found humor in the man’s shirt, it led to his removal from the flight—unfortunately, this didn’t do any favors for our cause.

The man was wearing a black t-shirt displaying an image of Trump donned in American flag sunglasses and extending two middle fingers. The caption “Hawk tuah spit on that thang”—an R-rated nod to a viral internet clip—was printed above the image.

Passengers were not amused. As per a post shared on Reddit group r/delta, someone complained about the man’s shirt, which led to an airline staffer approaching him. He was given the choice to either invert his shirt or face removal from the flight. Initially, he complied by turning his shirt inside-out. However, before takeoff, he reverted it back to its original state, prompting Delta to escort him off the plane.

Delta, like most airlines, has a contract of carriage allowing them to remove passengers deemed disruptive or offensive to others. This policy states that a passenger can be removed for attire that poses “an unreasonable risk of offense or annoyance to other passengers.” In this case, the man’s shirt crossed that line.

Spotting the Hypocrisy

Here’s where things take a curious turn. While this man’s removal for offensive clothing might seem cut and dried, it begs the question: would the same have occurred if the shirt had depicted Kamala Harris making a rude gesture towards Trump or Republicans? It’s exasperating, but hardly surprising. The mainstream narrative grows increasingly hostile towards conservatives, while those on the left are given carte blanche to say and do as they please. When we push back, we’re tagged as offensive or disruptive. Meanwhile, their offensive rhetoric is hailed as free speech. It’s hypocrisy at its peak.

Does This Behavior Serve Our Cause?

Despite understanding the man’s frustration, I must point out: this kind of behavior doesn’t advance our cause. While such a shirt might be amusing in private, in public—especially among diverse company—it tends to alienate people.

Think about the independents, those who haven’t made up their minds yet. They see a shirt like this and instead of being swayed to join our side, they’re likely to be repelled. Standing firm in our convictions is one thing, but creating a public spectacle that provides the left with more ammunition against us is another entirely.

I’m not suggesting we should bow to political correctness or stifle ourselves. Far from it. But we must be strategic about how we present ourselves. Donning crude shirts in public places isn’t the way to win hearts and minds. It merely fuels the left’s narrative that we’re nothing more than angry, uncivilized radicals.

Delta’s Part in the Culture War

Then there’s Delta. They’re well within their legal right to remove a passenger if they believe his or her attire is causing a disturbance. But don’t be fooled into thinking their actions aren’t indicative of the broader cultural war we’re engaged in.

Delta is just one among many corporations that have subtly chosen sides in this war. Whether it’s enforcing mask mandates, promoting “woke” values, or now removing passengers for pro-Trump apparel, they’re part of a much larger machine working against us. They may claim neutrality, but their actions tell a different story.

By removing this man, Delta wasn’t merely enforcing their dress code; they were sending a message. They were loudly and clearly stating that anything related to Trump is unwelcome. It’s the same message we’ve been receiving from tech giants, the media, and Hollywood for years now. They don’t want us in the public square. They want us silenced. And if we’re not vigilant, that’s exactly what will happen.

We need to be shrewder in how we approach these battles. Wearing a shirt like that might feel like sticking it to the left, but all it does is provide them with more justification to clamp down on us. We need to fight, but we need to fight smarter.
